Is Parys is becoming the next Camps Bay?

With designers flocking to Parys and homeowners standing queue to invest in holiday homes in this World Heritage Site, Parys is attracting a lot of attention these days.

Parys is known for its antiques and outdoor activities and is situated in the middle of a 200km radius where a high percentage of the South African population lives.  It is the perfect getaway for relaxing, fly-fishing, golfing and it is well connected to major towns and cities via a good road infrastructure.

Among top fashion designers residing in Parys, are Werner Dye, Abigail Betz and Michael Bezuidenhout.  There are two new golf estate developments in the area and all 475 freehold stands at the Parys Golf & Country Estate have sold.  The high demand in property in this area is due to the flourishing development and the breathtaking views.

Previously Parys was known as a boring little village in the middle of nowhere but with homes selling for up to R2.7-million, this place is everything but boring.  According to Henriette van der Kevie, area principal for Pam Golding Properties, stands on the Nick Price golf estate are selling from R1-million each, and they are very high in demand.  River property is highly sought after but only a few upmarket properties are currently available.  Currently two vacant stands near Parys with 100m-river frontage each are priced at R2.5-million and R1.3-million respectively.

Record high prices are also achieved for properties in the heart of the Vredefort Dome area, but property here is very scarce.  Van der Kevie says that there is a shortage to retirement accommodation and there is an opportunity for a developer to launch an upmarket retirement development in the area.
